Veo 3.1 when a clip has to stay up
Material you run in a campaign for a quarter looks different from material you run as a test. The camera has inertia here, the light changes with the shot, and reflections travel across glass the way they should. It is the priciest second on the roster and the only reason to pay it.

What it is good for
- Camera movement with inertia
- A push slows down, an arc has a radius, the camera does not jump between frames. That is the first thing that separates a generated clip from a filmed one.
- Light that changes within the shot
- A highlight travels across glass as the camera moves and the shadow rotates. Other engines light a scene once and keep that light for the whole clip.
- Sound alongside the picture
- Generated from the same brief, so it matches what is on screen. Switchable off if the material is going under your own music.
When to pick something else
It costs 1.1 credits a second, so an eight-second clip is nine credits — the forty you start with buy four of those and nothing else. It is a bad choice for hunting an idea; Veo 3.1 Fast is there for that at a third of the price. It also does not animate an uploaded photo: it starts from a brief only, so if your specific item has to be in frame you need the Fast variant or Seedance 2.5. The ceiling is eight seconds.

The things this engine handles differently from the rest. The habits that hold for every model are collected separately, in the help centre.
- Add "no voiceover" if you do not want a voice. Sound is generated along with the picture, so silence has to be ordered too.
- Describe a move with inertia: a slow arc around the product, a push in that decelerates. That is what you are paying for here — a static shot any cheaper engine will give you.
- Say how the light changes during the shot. A highlight travelling across glass, or a shadow entering the frame, comes out convincingly here and almost nowhere else.
- Do not look for the idea here. Eight seconds is nine credits, which is four such clips out of the free allowance — find the shot in Veo 3.1 Fast and order the final one here.
- It takes no starting photograph. If a specific item of yours has to be on screen, you need the Fast version or Seedance 2.5.
