Veo 3.1 Fast the default video engine

Among the engines that generate picture and sound together, this is the cheapest per second of finished material. That is why it is our default: a four-second clip costs two credits, arrives in a minute and sounds like a recording rather than an animation with no track under it.

What it is good for

Two credits a clip
The shortest clip is two credits, so the forty you start with buy twenty of them. When you are testing the first three seconds of an ad, what matters is how many attempts you can afford to throw away.
Sound generated with the picture
Not laid under finished footage but generated alongside it — room tone, footsteps, a splash. You switch it on or you do not.
Starts from your photo too
The same engine animates an uploaded product photo, not just a brief. Then it is your item moving in frame rather than something from the same category.

When to pick something else

Eight seconds is the ceiling, and that is short for anything with a narrative — Seedance, Wan and PixVerse go to ten, and for a presenter speaking Polish there is HeyGen Video Agent. It takes only vertical or landscape, no square and no 4:3, so a format for a product card has to be cropped. And if the clip should look more expensive than it cost, full Veo 3.1 is clearly better — just almost three times the price.

How to brief this model

The things this engine handles differently from the rest. The habits that hold for every model are collected separately, in the help centre.

  1. Write "no voiceover" into the brief. This engine generates sound along with the picture, and left alone it adds a voice saying things nobody approved.
  2. Order sound that suits the frame: room tone, rustling paper, a drop of water. A second of audio costs the same, and a clip without it looks unfinished.
  3. Upload a first frame when the item on screen has to be yours. That is the difference between this version and the full Veo 3.1, which starts from the brief alone.
  4. Describe one camera move, not three. Four seconds is enough for a push in or an orbit — not for both.
  5. Choose portrait or landscape. This model has neither square nor 4:3, so a frame for a product card will have to be cropped.
