Hunyuan 3D 3.1 Pro when only the shape matters
Not every model is bound for a product page. Some are made to be rendered, printed or opened up and worked on further — and there the weight of the file is beside the point while the truth of the shape is everything. This engine returned a hundred thousand triangles, an even thread under the cork and a crisp neck ring, in the places where two of the others rounded the edge away.
Rendered by this model

The mesh was reconstructed from this photograph:
The sample is rendered with PBR materials on. Textures in the file served here are downsampled to 1024px so it opens on a phone; the geometry and the set of maps are as the engine returned them.

What it is good for
- Geometry without surprises
- The thread under the cork, the neck ring and the rim all came back even and sharp. At a hundred thousand triangles there is enough mesh to build them from — the densest of the five, ten times denser than Trellis. If your product has a part that protrudes, is drilled through, or turns on a crisp edge, this is the engine for it.
- From forty thousand faces to one and a half million
- It takes a face count anywhere in that range, and the app asks for a hundred thousand at the web setting and eight hundred thousand at high detail. Eight hundred thousand is the density that survives a close-up in a render, not merely a spin on a listing.
- A photo, or a sentence
- It works both ways, so the same engine reconstructs a product from a photograph and builds a prop you do not own. The brief has to be short — see below.
When to pick something else
Texture weight. With PBR materials on, this engine returned three 4096-pixel maps and a 30.52 MB file, where Tripo returned that same set of maps in 1.63 MB. It has no texture size setting — a face count and whether materials are wanted, and nothing else — so lighter maps are not something you can ask it for. On a product page that rules it out without argument: a file that size finishes loading on a phone after the shopper has scrolled on. For the web use Tripo or Trellis, and keep this one for renders, 3D printing and further work in a modelling program. The second caveat concerns glass and anything transparent: none of these five engines will give you transparency, and this one closes such an object into a solid body with the reflections painted onto its surface.

The things this engine handles differently from the rest. The habits that hold for every model are collected separately, in the help centre.
- Take it when the geometry has to be right. The thread under our jar’s cork came back even — the most dependable result of the five.
- Reckon with texture weight. With PBR materials on, our sample came out of the engine at 30.52 megabytes, because the maps are 4096 pixels and there is no way to ask for smaller.
- Do not give it glass or anything transparent. Our jar came back a solid body with the reflections baked into the texture — no engine here will render transparency.
- Only order the higher detail for a visualisation, never for a web page. Eight hundred thousand faces is a file a browser will not open quickly.
- It takes a description too, but a shape from one sentence will be an object from your category rather than your own item.
